This refrigerator lock is a great way of keeping your refrigerator items secured. When installed correctly, these plates are PERMANENT! So be sure to read the instructions.
Because this kit is much more than a child proof lock, it can be used in any situation where there is a need to keep doors secured. These plates can be applied to any refrigerator door, freezer door, medicine cabinet, tool chest, printer tray, single file cabinet drawer, and most any 'openable' fixture to restrict access (cannot be adhered to painted or laminated wood or drywall). Helps comply with HIPAA and other privacy law requirements.
Ideal application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F, but once properly applied will withstand lower temperatures. Cable arms are removable when refrigerator does not need to be locked for a period of time.
6 Kits Available with options for color (Black or White) and Options for padlock (with a keyed padlock, with a combination padlock, or without a padlock so you may use one you purchased separately).
These refrigerator locks are a permanent installation. Once adhered, they CANNOT be removed.

- One long cable, 5 1⁄2" when installed into the plate.
- One short cable, 3" when installed into the plate.
- Available in white or black.
- Your choice of padlock options:
- Keyed brass padlock – keyed-alike.
- Guardianite brand set-your-own combination padlock.
- No padlock – if you prefer to use your own padlock, choose "No Padlock" for the Lock option and we will send the kit without a padlock.
- NOTE: These plates cannot be adhered to painted or laminated wood or drywall.
NOTE: When properly installed, the refrigerator lock plates are permanent and cannot be removed.
Before removing the adhesive backing paper, practice placing the plates with the padlock installed to test attachment points and test clearances.
- Locate a suitable flat surface. Use a pencil to trace around the security plate, once the location is decided. The plate with the longer cable arm should be mounted to the side of the refrigerator while the plate with the shorter cable arm should be mounted to the door. Be sure to position the plates so the metal eyelets line up, one on top of the other. Adhesive plates must be mounted to a clean, dry, flat surface (do not obstruct air vents or cover screw heads).
- Temperature: Ideal application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). Pressure sensitive adhesives use viscous flow to achieve substrate contact area.
Minimum suggested application temperatures for 3M™ VHB™ 4941 Tape: 60°F (15°C)
Note: Initial tape application to surfaces at temperatures below these suggested minimums is not recommended because the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory.
To obtain good performance with all 3M™ VHB™ tapes, it is important to ensure that the surfaces are dry and free of condensed moisture.
- Remove the backing from the plates. Do not touch the adhesive material. Carefully apply the plate to the selected locations. The strength of the bond is related entirely to how much pressure is initially applied. Each plate requires at least 90 lbs. of force applied to achieve maximum bond. It’s not about how long you apply the force, it’s about how much pressure is applied.
- Allow plates to cure for a FULL 24 HOURS before installing lock or putting any tension on the cables. Once cured, thread the padlock through the aligned metal eyelets at the end of the cables. This will lock and secure your refrigerator.
So push as hard as you can!
Note: These plates cannot be adhered to painted or laminated wood.
If you have purchased a kit without a padlock, you will need to use your own padlock. Be sure the padlock you choose has a maximum shackle diameter of 5/16” or less.
If you plan on leaving your refrigerator unlocked for an extended period of time, you can remove the cable ‘arms’. Just push them back through the opening and store in a safe place.
